In this first version of the Developers Image Resizer, our team decided to focus on making it easier and quicker for Windows 8 and Windows 8 mobile developers to submit apps. However, this tool is not just for developers.
It is designed to let anyone easily crop and resize images through our user friendly interface. In this version, you will find that your images can be saved as either PNG or JPEG files. You have the option of selecting custom sizes, and with the press of a button, the resizer will resize and save your resized images to the location of your choice.
--Why Should Developers Use This Tool?
- This tool will resize your image and create your Windows 8 icons and your Windows Phone icons.
- It will also create the images required by the Windows Phone store during your app submission.
- It renames all of the resized images and icons to meet the requirements of the standard Visual Studio solution files(i.e. SplashScreen, ApplicationIcon, Logo, StoreLogo, etc.).
As a developer myself, I use a personal version of this tool for every app that I submit. I have found it to help me save lots of time and keeps me from having to individually resize each image and then rename it to what is required by the Dev Center. Our team is currently working on improving this app. In the next version, you will find that it makes life even easier for todays Windows 8 and Windows 8 Phone developers. There will also be changes that will benefit regular users that are not into development.
