Pomodoro! The productivity technique developed by Francesco Cirillo, now in Universal App (WinPhone, Win8) form! Nice and simple, providing exactly what is needed for you to use this in your own creative efforts, without any distracting configuration or options or whatever to get in the way! That's right, the lack of features in this app is actually itself a carefully designed feature!
This app will, on entering a short piece of text (123 - better than a button because it forces you to take an explicit action, similar to the low-fi turning of a timer), time you for 25 minutes. Every five minutes a silent message is added indicating that 5 minutes have elapsed. At the end of the 25 minutes, a sound plays indicating it is time to take a break. Recommended break lengths are 5-10 minutes, and then the app will notify that it is time to begin again. The whole process is then reset.
Proven effective! I have passed the NaNoWriMo writing month (50k words in a month) using this technique, and the lo-fi version was used in the development of this app!
